Aspen Mountain, with its famous black-diamond ski runs, is historical in its own right. Over the years it has hosted world cup down hill races and hosted some of the most influential people in the world. Often referred to "Ajax" amongst locals, it was founded in 1946. Ski Lift 1A along with the Silver Queen gondola ascend from Gondola Plaza in the heart of downtown Aspen. In bounds you will enjoy a variety of glades, bumps and steeps. For an out-of-bounds experience, Aspen Mountain Powder Tours will hook you up with fresh tracks on the backside. While the mountain has not changed much over the years, you will appreciate the Silver Queen Gondola access via downtown, great views, celebrity sightings and some of the best local food in the country.

Aspen Highlands offers some of the most extreme skiing in the state of Colorado. This is a locals favorite. Few tourists and a lot of skiing make for the perfect ski vacation. On a busy day, don`t plan on waiting in a lift line. Located just 3 miles west of downtown Aspen, its wide open runs and unbelievable views of the surrounding mountains and Maroon Belles, it will take your breath away.
